Why We Love Weddings at Drygate Brewery in Glasgow.

Blinding Lights bassist David got married to his new wife Gail Kelly in a cracking low-key wedding at Drygate Brewery, Glasgow, in July this year - and an eight-piece version of the band (with extra percussion and guitar) was on hand to assist in the celebrations in spectacular fashion! And - as a venue this place could not have been better for a party. Great atmosphere, excellent sound on stage and in the dancefloor, plenty of room, and tremendous food to boot!

We played a set with plenty of funk, soul, and especially Prince at the insistence of the groom, and as you can see from this awesome footage of the party shot by Robert MacDonald and Andrew Blake and edited by Walnut Wasp, it went down an absolute storm!

As a venue, Drygate Brewery was an absolute dream to play at - there’s an excellent, comprehensive in-house sound and lighting set-up already in place and an engineer supplied by the venue. With a very generous stage space and an incredibly easy load in, as well as excellent venue staff and even a green room for the band, it’s a venue we’d love to play every week!

In addition to playing a funky set for the evening reception, Rob and Nick also played this stripped back chilled acoustic version of Dancing in the Dark for the ceremony, where Nick almost had his thunder stolen by Ailsa the flower girl:

All in, a tremendous day and night, and Drygate was a dream venue for a showband of our style - great sound, great stage, and a perfect atmosphere for dancing and partying. Hopefully we’ll be back many, many times in the future!
